The Steve Prefontaine Foundation invites you to contribute to the permanent, endowed scholarship established within the Marshfield Community & Memorial Scholarship Fund in Pre’s memory. The Foundation will continue to add to the corpus along with donations from participants in the Prefontaine Memorial Run and from the general public who treasure Pre’s memory. As the corpus continues to grow, larger scholarship awards will be presented to deserving Marshfield student-athletes in perpetuity. In 2023, the recipient will receive a scholarship in the amount of $2,250.

In addition to this endowed scholarship, the Foundation annually awards a $2,000 scholarship to a Coos County high school graduating senior who has shown dedication to their high school cross country and/or track and field program who will go on to a college to further their education. The Foundation also provides monetary support through a grant program to Coos County high schools to help maintain strong cross country and track and field programs. The Foundation also sponsors and supports the Prefontaine Track Club, a summer track and field program.

Pre was a passionate supporter of his fellow athletes. The Foundation believes that our activities and contributions honor Steve Prefontaine’s memory and his spirit.
